A Place for Your Family to Worship

Children belong in worship. Jesus said, “Let the children come to me…” At Trinity Presbyterian, we celebrate children as part of our worshipping community. We know that children grow in the faith through their regular inclusion and participation in the worship of the congregation.

The Influence of Family Worship

“Family Worship increases the spirit of reverence for God and His Word. Children copy their parents’ spirit and example. If parents begin the day by invoking God’s blessing, by consecrating the early hour to His service, they show their estimate of the value of worship.” (Rev. M. Simpson, 1882)

These words were penned by the respected Rev. M. Simpson well over a century ago in his book, The Influence of Family Worship. They hold an eternal truth that has been echoed by theologians through subsequent generations. We recognize the importance of nurturing and growing the faith of our children as a partnered responsibility with you, the parents, as part of our covenant pledge in raising our children to be faithful followers of Jesus Christ.

To honor our partnership with your family, we have created several tools for you to use with your child(ren) to guide them in worshipping God. Children can use these guides and Worship Bags, with minimal parental help, to follow along, enjoy, and participate in worship service.

Our “Pew Pals” worship bags can be picked up at the beginning of service in the baskets located in the rear of the sanctuary. Inside, you will find a number of worship aids to help your child develop an understanding of the different parts of worship and the reason why worship is so meaningful to our community of faith.

Included each week: A children’s bulletin to follow along with the service and learn the significance of the different parts of worship, a liturgical calendar to understand the time and meanings of the seasons of the church, a finger tracing of the Lord’s Prayer, a picture book of the children’s catechism, a colorful and easy to follow children’s bible, and (for our youngest members) a loveable “Pew Pal” to keep your child company during service.

Please make yourself familiar with these wonderful gifts from members of our congregation, and use them during service with your children.

Note: Please return your “Pew Pal” to the basket at the end of service. Your “Pew Pal” is your buddy during worship, but he lives in our sanctuary (quite happily, and well cared for). If you take him home, he may not be there for the next boy or girl who could really use a pal on Sunday Morning.
